At the end of August 2024, the immersive exhibition DP6 25. REFLECTIONS was on view in the former water basin of art center RADIUS in Delft. A bridge, a cinema, a high school, a social housing complex, an art center, an exhibition pavilion and two villas played the main roles. Filmmaker Onur Can Tepe visualized the recurring themes from DP6’s work in three immersive video installations: Senses, Connection and Value. How the focus on sensory experience creates a sense of wonder and inspiration, how by making links and facilitating connections physical places acquire meaning and how distilling what is of value brings focus and offers opportunities.
Onur Can Tepe spent a full day in each of the buildings and with its users, discovering rituals and cycles while filming. “Architecture serves as a frame for a series of bodily experiences. It is filled in by life itself and that happens at the moment when the architect hands over their control. In this exhibition, I tried to direct my focus on how spaces move us, direct our gaze, or create rooms where we gather, all of which are rituals that architecture inspires.”
The fourth theme, Transitions, used historical photographs and models to show how the designs connect the story of the new with those of the old, respecting the existing and giving the new a chance. Together, they form our new sustainable future.
