Malieklos in 36th edition of Yearbook Architecture in the Netherlands 2022-2023

Once again recognition for the Rotterdam social housing project Malieklos: it is one of the 29 projects in the Yearbook Architecture in the Netherlands 2022-2023.

Every year, a three-member editorial team from nai010 publishers present a reflection on the past architectural year in the form of essays, as well as a selection of remarkable projects that reflect the state of the field. In this 36th edition, the editors write about Malieklos: “The most eye-catching feature is the Brazilian brickwork lining the apartment stairwells. The spacious entrance has a stone floor that is more upmarket than you would normally expect in social housing. This is no one-off; the entire project is pervaded by high architectural ambition. This prompted some residents the comment that their rental home 'feels like an owner-occupied dwelling'.”
